WGC Meeting 13^th February 2010

• Previous minutes were accepted

• Treasurer explained that we would make around $900 in operating profit for this 12 months season and presented a budget of cash flows for the remainder of the summer, then the full winter season. On that basis we should have around $2800 in the bank.

• Lee commented that we should consider returning some of that to the members, and committee agreed to think of a way we can return around a $1000 to members through some function. More discussion at the next meeting. Lee also asked Steven to approach Marri Park to repeat their donation last year of around $800-$1000.

• The format for the Matchplay was discussed, vote was taken and all in favour of ..

1)  Fixture 3 matchplay rounds
2)  Draw people randomly to play each other with a scoring system of ..
3)  2 points a win, 1 point a drawn match, 0 points a loss (f you don't turn up on that day .. you get a 0, if you do turn up but an odd number of players so you miss out on a game , you get 1 point for a draw)
4)  At end of 3 games you end up with semi finalists as follows ..
5)  Take the top FOUR point scorers to be the semi finalists, if some are tied together they are split as follows ..

i) Where two or more players are tied on same score the best total of cumulative holes won /lost will be placed higher
ii) If no more than two players are still tied then, the winner of their match (if they played each other) will be placed higher.
iii) If the two players are still tied OR there are more than three players on the same cumulative holes won /lost total then those players will compete in a hole by hole play-off to decide the winner

6)  Then the semi finals and final is in traditional matchplay format (1v4 and 2v3) with playoff holes

• Committee was asked about club championships and was agreed that was in standing rule guidelines that we could decide on the format of the 2010 club championships without going back to members each year.

A series of questions were asked requiring YES/NO answers to get some parameters. All committee members were asked including those unable to attend. The voting was as follows ..

· Do you want the club championship to be your best 2 scores out of 3 or
more rounds so that you get the chance to exclude a bad round, or if you
cannot turn up for one of the rounds ? ( NO 7-1)

· Do you want our home course of Marri Park to be at least part of the
club championship in some way ? (YES 8-0)

· Do you want an away course to be at least part of the club championship
in some way ? (NO 5-3)

Based on that the 2010 club championships will be 2 rounds only, at Marri Park towards the end of the season. Whether it will be consecutive Saturdays or all on one weekend has to be decided. The general consensus would be that this would be a genuine club championships given we play at Marri all winter season.

It was also agreed that the club still enjoys an away trip at the end of the season, so this still to be undertaken but as a separate weekend, maybe in conjunction with the presidents cup.

• Graeme will get onto the winter fixtures and have a draft ready for the next committee meeting.

• Was agreed that we should keep current shirts. Lee will check on the price for long sleeves, then take orders from members.

• Lee commented that whilst the challenge match (we lost 5-7) went well, the non playing captain was frustrating for him as there was little to do. Consideration to be given next year to have a playing captain. As well as making sure we do not donate to their ball fees as we seemed to do this year.
