WGC Minutes – Committee meeting 3rd
October 2009
Present : Graeme, Steven, Troy,
Greg, Mike, Stan, John
Absent : Chris
- Troy
noted that he may not be able to attend matches us match this next year
because of personal commitments but he is happy to continue in role or
treasurer
- Troy will prepare
and present a budget of likely income and expenses for the coming 12
months to be presented at the next committee meeting
- Frog
announced first week of summer competition will be Saturday 10th
October at Glen Iris. He will organise other fixtures up to Christmas as
soon as possible to be able to put on the website
- Steven
noted that 7am is a very early start given is not that hot yet, maybe an
8am/9am start may be better to allow more people to play until weather
gets warmer
- Membership
fees to stay same as last year as per AGM. Fees due now for all players to
be eligible for prizes
- Steven
to give Graham the left over vouchers, balls etc to be used as much as
possible for summer competition prizes
- Steven
to contact Denis to see if he wants to sponsor the stubby holders again
- Greg
suggested that the new handicap system that official Australian golf clubs
have to adopt by February 1st 2010 will create extra work to
record scores (basically is a world wide change that means handicaps will
be influenced by a players last 20 rounds of golf). Given we do try and
follow golf rules as much as possible,
all committee members to have a look at the new handicapping
system, and we to decide shortly whether to go with the new Australian
system.
- Steven
brought up the thought that members be asked whether “Willetton Golf Club”
has outdated itself as a name given we don’t have cricket players at that
club, we moved many years ago from that area etc. Maybe we can come up
with a fun golfing name for the club that members can choose between. For
further discussion ..
- Greg
suggested was time for us to look at new club shirts, nothing resolved
yet.
- Was
decided that meetings be held once a month prior to golf rounds (whether
it be a summer competition game or one of the alternate weeks for Marri Park veterans)
- Mike
(Hodgey) requested that when members are paying their ball fees each week,
that they do so “one at a time” to make it a little easier for the person
who has given up their time to record all payments. Good idea !!
- Next
meeting 14th November 2009, 10am Marri Park
