It’s almost the end of the 02/03 season and finally we have a web site for our club, this is fantastic news.
I thought I would do a brief overview of the season so far so here we go.
Round 1. Vs Maddington.
A great first up win when we really looked like losing this one. Madd were 3/61 after day 1 but Azza and Dennis ripped through them in the first session.
Canning 107 & 7/153 defeated Madd 97
J Todd 33 , D Todd 24 . A Dyer 6/28 , D Todd 4/12
C Wisse 64 , M Delamere 40no (2nd Inn)
Round 2. Vs Roleystone.
A huge win in this game which saw a record partnership of 200 between Mike & Dennis Todd that was all class, then some lusty hitting by the tail saw a massive total which we defended with ease.
Canning 7/337 defeated Roley 9/168
M Todd 120 , D Todd 86 . M Richards 4/22
Round 3. Vs Cockburn.
This game was dominated by the ball with a result coming in the first week. We pushed for an outright only to just fall short. A great game by Azza .
Canning 116 & 7/152 defeated Cockburn 50 & 5/96
D Todd 39 , A Dyer 35 . A Dyer 5/13 , J Todd 2/3
B Jordan 59 , M Delamere 37 . M Richards 3/15 (2nd Inn).
Round 4. Vs Phoenix.
A real close game saw us just scrape home with some great batting from the tail. 4 wins in a row is a terrific start to the season.
Canning 9/160 defeated Phoenix 151 & 6/71
S O’neil 28 , P Mclean 28no . S O’neil 3/37 , M Todd 2/16
S O’neil 3/29 , J Todd 2/18 (2nd Inn)
Round 5. Vs SJ Blues.
The start of the one dayers saw us win a very tight game with the winning runs coming in the last over by our No 11.
Canning 148 defeated SJ Blues 145
C Wisse 55 , P Mclean 2/15 , A Dyer 2/20
Round 6. Vs Kardinya.
Our winning streak came to an end with a disappointing loss, a good opening was wasted by a middle & bottom order collapse.
Kardinya 5/190 defeated Canning 105
Wisse 46 , M Todd 18 . M Delamere 2/25
Round 7. Vs Armadale.
A terrific come from behind win with Syd and Della having a match winning partnership of 87 late in the match.
Canning 7/202 defeated Armadale 181.
M Delamere 48no , S Godfrey 45 . M Delamere 3/35 , A Dyer 2/19
Round 8. Vs Maddington.
The start of a new year saw us lose a game we should have won. Dropped catches cost us dearly in the field and then a steady fall of wickets left us 36 runs shy.
Maddington 6/211 defeated Canning 175
J O’dea 31 , B Jordan 24 . M Richards 3/27
Round 9. Vs Roleystone.
A brilliant batting performance saw young Johno and Della put in with some great scores, then a great display of bowling from Macca and debutant Marty rolled the opposition.
Canning 7/237 defeated Roleystone 116
M Delamere 63no , J O’dea 49 . P Mclean 4/31 , M Torrance 4/17
Round 10. Vs Cockburn.
This game was a real heart stopper with some great bowling at the end by Marty and Azza to pull it out of the fire, the last 5 wickets falling for just 10 runs.
Canning 143 defeated Cockburn 124
J Todd 37 , M Delamere 33 . M Torrance 3/20 , A Dyer 2/24
Round 11. Vs Phoenix.
A game we would rather forget with dropped catches costing us very dearly, then a lack of application with the bat saw us lose in a big way. Let’s hope this wakes us up.
Phoenix 8/232 defeated Canning 101
A Dyer 28 , P Mclean 25 . J Todd 2/28
Round 12. Vs SJ Blues.
A change in the batting order worked wonders in this game with a record opening partnership of 178 between Wisser and Richo set up a huge total and a marvellous display with the ball in searing temperatures saw us win big.
Canning 7/272 & 8/104 defeated SJ Blues 130
C Wisse 112 , M Richards 72 . M Richards 4/10 , A Dyer 2/25
B Jordan 29 , C Wisse 27 (2nd Inn)
Round 13. Vs Kardinya.
A late batting collapse saw us ruin a good start, at 2/155 we were all out for 187 which was probably 50 runs shy of what we wanted. We still have a chance at second spot on the ladder in the final game.
Kardinya 5/207 defeated Canning 187
C Wisse 81 , M Richards 32 . D Todd 2/37 , M Richards 2/37.
